ABOUT


The MIT-THU Future City Innovation Connector (FCIC), jointly established by MIT and Tsinghua University, is a new program in MIT’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. FCIC selects prototype ready startups with strong competencies; connects them with Chinese market and industry resources and supports them with pilot opportunities.

WE PROVIDE:


1. China-Launch Lectures
Startup preparation and accelerate lectures in spring semester

2. China On-site Courses
7-day on-site course and visits in China with full travel allowance 

3. China Pilot Project Opportunities
Support and opportunities to launch pilot project in the world’s most fast-paced urban economy

4. Partnership Opportunities
Connections and relationship-building with industry-leading partners, mentors, peer entrepreneurs, and local communities, as well as sponsors and top VCs

5. A Full Range of Support 
Communication and coordination support, a team with deep understanding of the culture, market mentality, economy landscape, industry regulations and urban context

In 2018, partnering with designX, MIT-THU FCIC will launch the inaugural 
China Venture Workshop
 all the above opportunities will be provided.

Selection

By March  20, 2018

The 2018 FCIC cohort  will be selected and matched with industry resources 

Preparation

April - June, 2018

Teams will attend workshops designed to help them launch pilots in China

Launch

July - August, 2018

The China Venture Workshop will take place in Beijing, followed by a 7-day local visits to Chinese cities

MIT and Tsinghua University sign urban innovation agreement

MIT and Tsinghua University in China have signed an agreement establishing a new technology project, the Future City Innovation Connector (FCIC), which is designed to support research and startup teams applying ideas to China’s rapidly growing urban areas.
